History comes to life in Mdina at the Medieval Festival 2015

Every year in April the Maltese celebrate their rich history and culture at the Medieval Festival in Mdina. The festival is one of the most popular re-enactments of medieval life. The whole city will become the stage for re-enactments, music performances, swordfights, a medieval market, a slave market, birds of prey, exhibitions and of course food stalls and a market. The festival is held on the 18th and 19th of April 2015, and if you are visiting Malta in this time you should definitely take a look, as it is an incredible and authentic display of what life was like hundreds of years ago. The city is filled with volunteers dressing up in contemporary costumes, and you will feel like you are in a different century.

Mdina is a walled city in the centre of Malta. The city once was the capital and it is situated on a hill overlooking the island. What makes it so special is the feeling inside the walls, as the city has not lost its charms and atmosphere from hundreds of years ago.

If you live in Malta, or you are going to move to the island, you should at least visit the festival once, it is a great day out and a good opportunity to learn about the rich history of Malta. And aside from that, there is going to be a lot of contemporary food and drink available. The festival has also become a tourism magnet, and many people visit the islands just for this event. The tourism industry in Malta has been growing in recent years, which is a good indicator of the growing popularity of Malta.

Spring and summer in Malta are a great time to experience all the fun the islands have to offer. There are going to be many festivals, music events and other events that will keep you occupied virtually every weekend. This weekend, on the 19th, is also the annual Strawberry Festival (Festa Frawli) in Imġarr. You will be able to enjoy an incredible variety of strawberry related products, such as chocolate, ice cream, jams, pancakes and even strawberry wine. The Maltese strawberries are known for their unique taste and natural sweetness, and you should definitely try them, in case you have not tried them already.
