Malta Listed Under Lonely Planet’s Top 10 Travel Destinations of 2018

Haven’t yet figured out your next travel destination?

That’s okay, because neither have we. We don’t need to because we’re already there! Why is Malta the next best place for you to visit? It’s not just our opinion that you should come to Malta, but also the valued opinion of Lonely Planet. Every year their renowned list receives an update on the Top 10 Destinations Worldwide. You can now find Malta on the list of Top Ten Countries you should visit in 2018.

Lonely Planet is the biggest publisher of travel guides worldwide. In addition to Malta and others, you can find the following stunning countries on the 2018 list: Chile, South Korea, Portugal, New Zealand and South Africa.

This land “between cultures” is well worth a visit

Malta is truly a charming nation “between cultures”, as it is often referred to. One can learn much from diving into its turbulent history – Malta has a story that goes quite a way back, telling fascinating tales of occupation and abuse under various political powers. Most recently, Malta gained independence from the British in the 1960’s, after spending over 150 years “under siege.” Malta’s culture is famously marked by the Order of Knights, an organization that survives to this day.

The capitol of Valletta appears on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Take a step into the streets of the old city and you’ll feel its history soak into your feet. Don’t miss out on circling the perimeter from the water’s edge, to truly get a feel of the dimension of the city of Valletta.

A pot-lug of languages

Malta has two official languages: Malti and English. Most speak both here, but the Maltese language is something truly special. Every Malteser speaks Maltese, a language Semitic in its origins but one that sounds like a mix between Italian, French and English.

Lonely Planet say that Malta is one of the most beautiful countries on this Earth. I’m with them on this one, and welcome you with utmost enthusiasm so that you may be dazzled by this Island.
