Remote gaming licence in Malta offers best iGaming structures in Europe

The LGA (Lotteries and Gaming Authority) in Malta recently published the interim report for the first six months of 2014. It is stated in the report that the numbers of issued licenses went up 25% this year in comparison to last year. A total of 401 licences were issued in the first six months of 2014. The report also showed that the number of registered companies went up by 17% compared to last year. The good news for licence applicants is also that the processing time has been reduced by 50%, and it now takes an average of 2.5 months for the whole application process. Naturally, this also depends on the applicant and if all the necessary documentation is being handed in.

Malta has become one of the biggest players in remote gaming in Europe. It important that the regulatory body continuously improves their processes, and the figures show that the Maltese gaming licence is as popular as ever.

Since Malta’s online gaming industry is becoming more and more popular, the regulatory body also wants to create better structures for the licence, an action plan to fight against gaming addiction and a newly found agency called Gaming Malta that will have the responsibility to promote Malta’s remote gaming jurisdiction internationally, in order to attract more online gambling operators.

Joseph Cuschieri, the CEO of the LGA said that the main idea is to have one regulatory body and several other entities that each have their own responsibility for one sector. All entities will work hand-in-hand to promote responsible gaming and Malta as an attractive gaming jurisdiction.
