St Patrick’s Day is one of Ireland’s most important religious feast days, and celebrated annually on the 17th of March. The day marks the death date of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It has been an official Christian holiday since the early 17th century, and it commemorates the arrival of Christianity in Ireland and celebrates the Irish culture in general. It is custom to wear a shamrock and/or green clothes on this day.
St. Patrick’s Day is not an official holiday in Malta, but celebrated nonetheless. Pubs will host special events, and the Irish Maltese circle will be hosting St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in SmartCity. The celebrations will be held on the 16th of March at the Laguna boardwalk between 1-2.30 pm. The Irish band Potarlington will be playing Celtic and Irish music, and the Claddagh Crooners and Inis Ealga Dancers will be performing as well. The event is free for everyone to join and to enjoy the celebrations.
SmartCity Malta has become a popular venue for events, and the Laguna walk offers choreographed fountains, a promenade, and an open-air amphitheatre with spectacular views of the Infinity Lagoon and the Mediterranean. There are also restaurants located at the promenade offering a variety of different cuisines.
SmartCity is a business township offering offices spaces in Malta and apartments as well as entertainment infrastructure. It is located on a 360,000 m² area in Kalkara, south of Valletta and the Three Cities. One third of the area is reserved for green and open leisure areas. The first offices opened in 2010, and the whole project is planned to be fully completed in 2021. Establishing offices here can be a good option for companies relocating their business to Malta.
