One of the largest Internet and telephony providers in Malta is GO. A few months ago they announced that they were going to invest over €50 million in fibre optics in Malta in order to improve the network speed and to provide fast Internet to over 33,000 households by the end of this year and then nationwide.
Now the company has launched their first super fast Internet connection offering 500 Mbit/s download speed and 20 Mbit/s upload speed. The new plan includes limitless monthly download and upload usages, and the plan is aimed at consumers who download and upload large amounts of data. Clients will also be able to use multiple Internet devices at the same time without the risk of the connection slowing down due to excessive use. The price for the monthly plan is set at €115 per month.
Over 17,000 homes and offices in Lija, Sliema and St. Julian’s are now able to make use of this new offer. This number is expected to be increased to 33,000 by the end of 2015.
This high-speed Internet is surely not something that everyone needs. A regular high-speed connection of around 30-50 Mbit/s is usually sufficient for most people that download and do shopping on the Internet. The offer is aimed at power users who wish to have the fastest possible connection. However, the offer is also very attractive for companies that wish to have a super fast Internet connection at an attractive price.
Malta has a reputation for outstanding Internet service quality, which is a very important factor for Internet-based companies wanting to settle their business in Malta. The fiscal incentives of Malta are not everything the country has to offer and the government does their best to ensure that companies who choose Malta are able to effectively carry out their business without disruptions. A fast and stable Internet connection is often the key for providing good service.
